Shooting the "Clean Up On I-5" concept to this day remains one of my favorite projects. Our set was a small rectangular box open on one side and with a half-pipe-like ramp at one end. Through a lot of trial and error we found the right volume and velocity to create a beautiful river of milk with a dramatic splash back. The final image was then composed of many individual milk spill captures. There was one for the initial pour, one for the initial impact, and several to create the river and splash back. All the frames were seamlessly stitched together by our talented retoucher, Janko Williams. It was a lot of fun to spill all that milk and I love seeing the trucks out on the road.
In addition to the trucks, our team helped create several billboards for Darigold. Our photography brought to life the playful and creative concepts dreamed up by Wexely School for Girls. The "Better Butter Better Contest" was an interesting one. Wexley hired a butter sculptor. Yes they exist, or at least one does and she is amazing. She created a larger-than-life portrait of the contest winner using only butter and working in a room-sized refrigerator. The final sculpture weighed over 80 pounds. Once it was complete, our team had to move quickly to capture its beauty before it started to melt under our lights.
